The Polygon range of Print Width Controllers provide an instant cost effective solution to variable print width requirements.
This is achieved by independently multiplying and dividing the encoder frequency. By simply connecting between the printer and a normal specification encoder, variable print width can be instantly achieved. They are fully compatible with the Domino printer range suitable for use in the toughest industrial environments and meet virtually all requirements. All units operate from the printer 12V supply and connect printer 12V power to the encoder. 3 standard models are available to provide nominal 10% steps in print width using an encoder which is close to the correct print width requirements.
The 950-Z007 can generate 2% steps in print width control when used with a special high frequency encoder.

    The Z007 Print Width Controller enables variable print widths to be obtained from a shaft encoder with fixed pulses per revolution. The shaft encoder input frequency is doubled and then divided by 1 to 99 selectable via the front panel control. It is recommended for use in bar coding, dot coding or other machine readable application, as well as printed text.

    In applications where low speed operation is combined with machine-readable printer output, only the 950-Z007 unit should be used. At encoder frequencies below about 200Hz, variable width print may be produced, which is acceptable in most human readable applications.

    *A Standard encoder would produce the nominal print width required without addition of a Print Width Controller.
